Interactive stereoscope digital system for industrial design
The GIGA group of the I3A developed an interactive digital stereo system for industrial design, capable of displaying photorealistic and non-photorealistic 1:1 scale simple elements or compounds in scenarios that can project spatial volume or parallel perspective on surfaces of the screens. It consists of three adjacent screens, one front and two sides parallel to each other and perpendicular to the front. This system is based on a patent by the GIGA (Application No. P200300698 and Publication No.: 2,245,547) owned by the University of Zaragoza and operated by the company CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles). The most important application of this system is in the design of trains, as it allows to see and have an immersive experience through augmented reality system from a view inside and out. As a curiosity, it was the first European facility designed with these features from the point of view of size and application - and also low cost.
Three externally arranged pairs of projectors, each pair projecting on each of the three screens. On each projector, a polarizing filter is used in combination with polarizing glasses for a 3D vision experience on each screen.
