The Group of Power Electronics and Microelectronics (GEPM) is one of the research groups of the Aragón Institute of Engineering Research (I3A) that has been registered as Quality Research Group (Grupo de Investigación de Referencia) by the Regional Government of Aragón (Gobierno de Aragón).
The research of the group is mainly focused on three key interrelated technologies:
- Power electronic converters.
- Microelectronic systems.
- Electromagnetic design and compatibility.
These technologies are used by a wide range of industrial, domestic, communications and biomedical applications. The group's preferential attention is focused on the efficient power conversion, and is specifically directed towards several lines of applied research:
- Electronic systems for induction heating applications.
- Electronic systems for biomedical applications.
- Electronic systems for electromobility applications.
- Electronic systems for high-frequency power conversion.
The group consists of full professors, associate professors, assistant professors or senior researchers, and PhD students.
The members of GEPM are involved in undergraduate, master's, and doctoral teaching at the University of Zaragoza. They also participate in numerous activities, including scientific conferences and seminars. GEPM is involved in publicly and privately funded research projects, coordinated with companies, other research groups, and national and international networks. In addition, members of the group have founded two spin-off companies: EPIC Power Converters and HF Magic Lab.
